Panasonic LF-D310 and Soyo Dragon 645 Ultra MB

I am having a lot of trouble getting the Panasonic LF-d310 DVD-RAM drive properly setup with this MB.

The system reads both CDs and DVDs from the drive and shows the CD logo in the hardware list. But, it does NOT show the DVD-RAM portion of the drive and WILL NOT write to a DVD-R or DVD-RAM disc of varying brands.

I am thinking that I need some kind of upgrade to get the last part correct. Not sure if I need help with the drive or the MB upgrade.

Anybody out there who can help me with this.
