need some help backing up a securom 5.00.03.0012 game...
i've just learnt how to backup games with safedisc 2/3 protection and i tried applying the same method for securom 5 in alcohol 120% and selecting securom 5 instead of safedisc 2/3 but it said i wasn't able to make a 1:1 copy when i tried to burn it with the same protection
note: i was able to create an image of it...also used 4x to read and tried 4x to write
...so am i at a dead end?
i use a LG GSA 4136B A102 burner apparently a sheep 2

SecuROM isn't A120's strong suit so you may want to give BlindWrite5 a whirl since it tends to be exceptionally good at SecuROM. You'll also need a free app called BlindWrite5 Tweaker which will allow you more control over the settings. You can get it here:

http://nephilim.ccsau.info/tweaker.exe

I posted the basic settings to try first in this thread:

thanks for the help nephilim i'll give it a go
just wasn't sure if securom 5 would be similar to securom 4
does that mean i don't have to create an image again and just burn with blindwrite 5?

Yes, I'd definitely read the image with BW5 as well as write it. SecuROM requires the topology of the disc to be read and that's one of BW's better qualities.

By and large there are pretty significant differences between versions of any given protection. SafeDisc 3.20 for instance was a relatively easy one but when 3.20.022 came out things were much different. It cut out a large number of burners that were able to reproduce it as well as BW5's ability to dupe it. I could do SD 3.20 all day long with BW5 but not the newer one. They keep you on your toes don't they? :)

okay...i tried using blindwrite 5 with the tweaker and the settings you provided in the other thread...but it seemed to have an error in topology
so i tried the emulator method provided by geestar20 and it worked fine...with one error...not sure what that was all about but the backup works fine...
