Try doing a search there are a number of threads on this subject,everyone has a different opinion!

What I use

DVD Decrypter to rip free
DVD Shrink to compress free
Nero Recode2 to compress&burn free trial

For the best Quality
DVD Rebuilder V.0.74 free
CinemaCraftEncoder Basic Purchased
