If I may add something to the ImgTool statement. I use this method every time. I always make an image file in ImgTools. But there are some quirks you have to watch for. To creat the image, obviously, click dvd image button. The next window, there are two things you must be a little careful of. First, you must make sure that the VIDEO_TS folder is in c:\. Otherwise, it won't find the files. So, when you press dvd drive, you should enter c:\ only. Next box, click on the box next to the space and put it somewhere you remember, like c:\. Just name your file anything, but remeber to type in the .img extension or imgtools will save it as an unknown file and you'll be wondering where your file is and why you can't use it. Next box, type in your movie title in caps and no spaces. Use underline for space. Press create disc image. You can then directly import this into dvd decrypter, and it burns every time for me. I have not had a coaster in 50 burns.

So this is what you see in imgtools:

dvd drive: c:
output image file c:\x.img
volume title OCEANS_ELEVEN

framerman,

It's been a while since I last used Imgtool, adn I agree with most of what you say, but I'm not sure about the "C:\" part.

I keep most of my DVD files on my F:\ drive, and can't remeber having to call up C:\

I certainly agree about the *.img extension though.

You are right. The guides say to make your own image drive, which in your case is F:\, correct? I haven't had any problems sticking it on my c:\ root drive. I should have said that you should put the VIDEO_TS foler in the root directory of the drive you keep your files in.

But another thing is maybe I didn't read the question right. You can also make an image file from a dvd in dvd decrypter. If the disc is a dvd-5, then you use decrypter to make an iso image file. Then just burn it back.

framerman,

You might be right, I have no experience with DVD Decrypter (must give it a try) I do hear it's really quite good (and currently supported) unlike Smartripper (which I currently use)
