It depends. Could be RICOHJPN01, and if so, you could have just bought Ritek Ridatas for about $30 for 100. Could also be CMC Mag, which is considered 3rd rate around here. I've had both. TDK is a good brand, but I hope the ones you bought are branded because they don't sell unbranded media (=fakes).

I have a question on my dvd identifier it used to work fine now everytime I put in a disc it says:
[20:00:40] Unsupported Medium Detected
[20:00:40] Disc Identification Requires DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW or DVD-RAM Media And Matching Writer

LMAO!!! So you haven't even tried them, and you're already freaking out?
Well, first off, no one here would recommend buying media off of ebay. That was definitely a mistake. And it's always smarter to buy a small amount of a particular brand of media and test it out to make sure it works with you setup before buying a large amount of it. But as long as the TDK's you bought are genuine, you should be fine. Besides, you only spent $70, so it's not like you're gonna be out a fortune if they crap out on you.

try uninstalling and reinstalling dvdinfopro. it went a little wacky on me a while back, and that fixed it.

Yeah, I would never buy DVDs from eBay. I've read countless posts on forums like "Damn, these are made by CMC - I'll just dump it on eBay." :) But since you bought 200, it looks like you probably bought it from an e-merchant. BTW, you can check the manufacturer ID through Nero CD/DVD Speed under Extra tab too.

I use Nero's InfoTool to find out the manufacturer of the disc. Go into extras, click Get System Info, Info tool will come up. Click on "disc" and select the drive that is your DVD burner drive. It will scan the disc and tell you the manufacturer ID. I was able to click on the hardware tap and find out the specs of my computer as well such as the exact type of motherboard and the Bios. I have learned so much from these forums. You guys are great when your not sniping and making smart assed remarks ;0P

is it not a good idea to buy unbranded? i bought a pack of TYs and they were unbranded....wasn't expecting that. i did use the dvd identifier and it said they are TYs. would it be safer to just pay more and get branded next time?

Genuine TY brand disks don't have any identifying marks on them. They are the one exception to the rule.

i've found meritline.com and supermediastore.com both have good prices and they usually awlways have something on sale with free shipping. if you look around on this forum there are other places others order from too, that they like. good luck.
