Okay here is the deal. I am new to the PS2 modding scene. I do have a modded XBOX at home. I am currently working on an in-car video system. I was going to put my xbox in the car but after many poeple have had problems w/ it i deceided not to. Besides everyone said to use a PS2. So here I am.

I would like the older version ps2 v1-11, because it sounds like it is easier to mod than the new slim line model. I am looking at the DMS4 EZI, mainly because it sounds like it is easy to use. I am looking to play backup games on this unit, everyone can admit with cd's in a car they get scratched, definitly when you have kids. So I will keep the originals in the house and the backups in the car.

On my xbox i also have a snes emulator because my wife loves mario bros. is this possible with the ps2. Is there other emus you can use.

I have been reading about a hdd on these forums but am a little confised on how it works. Do i need the hdd in order for the modchip to work or not.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

some people are having problems simular to the solderless chips for the xbox so you may want to look into that first before deciding on a chip . and no you dont need a hdd for a chip to work .
