i've got video problems, perhaps somebody here could help me ...
when I?m trying to play a video (no matter what program i am using) the whole system stops for 10 seconds. I just can move the mouse pointer, but the system doesn?t react to anything else. after that the file is played, but only the sound. when I close the program the system stops again for some seconds.
following another advice, I played around in the registry at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32,
disabling some of the vidc.* entries and trying different configurations.
sometimes, after working on the problem for an hour, everything seems to be fine again and my videos are played correctly. but I don?t know why. after going to standby or switching off the computer - or perhaps just after waiting some time (without changing anything concerning the system) - the same problem, as described above, occurs.
I?am using windows xp, with all service packs and updates installed. all necessary codecs are installed (because I followed http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/48608). I guess, I messed around by installing too much codecs. is there a possibility to set the whole windows video thing back to default?
