Just purchased an Emprex DRW10161M, DVD 16x Writer, firmware A07R
i'm running Nero 6.6.0.8..
Problem is Nero recognises my drive but will not allow it to write DVD -R at anything above 4X
I'm using a TDK 8X -R Disk
Running the Nero DVD test still only shows the drive as a 4X drive.
Any Ideas???

Don't know if it'll help, but Emprex has a firmware upgrade for that drive. http://www.emprex.com/var/download/IDEPELMDU1016A07R.EXE
It's usually a good idea to do firmware updates to eliminate the possibility of that being the cause of problems.

Thanks, that was the first thing i tried, drive firmware is currently A07R, the latest according to Emprex web site.

Well, the manufacturers of media and equipment say up to 8X, they don't always guarantee it. Have you tried using a download of CopyToDVD3 to see if that will burn any faster or another media? As far as video goes, 4X is a good burn speed. I know the situation though, if it's supposed to do something, then you want it whether you use it or not.
