I've followed the procedures in the guides for ifoedit and they are not working for me.
I tried to split a dvd-9 to two dvd-r's, but have never gotten them to play on my Hollywood Plus card using the ifo files created right after the split to 2.
I've always had to delete any ifo files created by ifoedit during the split, leaving
only the vob files in the two folders (one disc folder for each dvd-r). Then I've always
had to do the extra step of using ifoedit to
"create ifo files".
That has worked and the dvd-r's play on my Hollywood Plus card just fine. Only the movie is there, no menus, but that is also fine with me.
Here are my questions/problems:
The dvd-r's created that way do NOT play at
all on any consumer standalone dvd players
I've tried them on even though they do play
on the Hollywood Plus and also on PowerDVD
running on my pc.
What is the problem? (The problem is NOT the
dvd-r media I'm using because if I backup a
dvd-5, those play not only on my pc, but also
on standalone consumer dvd players! Note,
I did not have to create any ifo files with
ifoedit in that instance and so I'm pretty
sure there is something the matter with the
ifo files created by ifoedit as far as
standalone players are concerned).
I though maybe the "provider code" saying
"ifoedit by Derrow" might be the problem, and
so I tried blanking that out (the provider id
on the dvd's I backup are blank and those dvds play ok, so that is why I tried this).
Unfortunately, that didn't help at all.
Here is another question: Is there some way
I can skip the extra step of creating ifo files after the split to 2 and have them
created during the split to 2 to save time?
There must be something wrong or missing with
the ifoedit guide(s), anyone know what it is?
