Old xbox backup HD to make new ones?

I've got an old modded XBox (see below) and was wondering if there was a way for me to simply copy the contents from my old XBOX HD to my new one and have it work with a new modded XBox (I have a friend's extra chip and an extra XBox handy and thought I might marry the two). It would sure save time making all of the formatting changes. Thanks in advance!
