Ok what I am trying to do is record game videos from one pc to another, to make my own vids of games I play.
I already have a system setup that is working OK. I stress OK because I'm running into a couple problems.
Current setup for the gaming machine is 3.4 AthlonXP64 with ATI Radeon Pro 9800 video card. There are no problems with this system in this process.
Now currently, I'm outputting video through it's S-Video cable and into the other computer (1.8Ghz P4 via USB2) via a Pinnacle Moviebox USB2 gizmo. Recording it with Pinnacle Studio 9.
The problems I'm running into are 1. I really wanna capture in 1024x768 if POSSIBLE. Is there any card that can do this? I have no problem buying a capture card even if it's a bit pricey. On my gaming computer it's setup with dual monitors of course, with teh S-video one set to "overscan" (It made the screen fit perfectly into the recording box on my other PC so I figured it was good.) Should I disable that?
Now the capture quality isn't bad when it's behaving, but when I record videos of the game sometimes it gets these verticle bands of black dots, evenly across the screen. Wierd because only some captures do this. It just so happens that the videos that get this wobble when I convert the final MPEG2 into Divx format to send to my buds.
So I guess 1. What would be the BEST setup to record PC to PC videos, directly from my video card to the other PC.
And 2, if I already basically have the best type of setup...what is wrong with it or what would be better equipment for this setup?
If screenshots are needed of the "bands" I'm talking about I can provide.
Thank you!
Josh
EDIT: I do want to mention I have no problems with dropped frames and I DO want to have a hardware solution since I have a pc dedicated just to capturing these videos. Thanks
