Okay, I've heard so much about these discs being the best, where in the heck do you people buy Taiyo Yuden media? I do not order anything online, so please let me know if any of you have come across these discs in any of the major stores in the west. (I live in San Mateo County....Northern California....The San Francisco Area)
As much as I've heard bad things about Memorex, I've burned over a hundred burns before encountering a problem. That one problem led me here to AfterDawn, and now I'm beginning to be a DVD burn snob. Well, actually, after using Verbatim and noticing a clearer picture, I guess I can pull one pinky up while I'm sipping my cognac.

If you don't buy online, I think you can look at bestbuy. I heard from here and other site that their Fuji dvds are really TY. Good luck though with bestbuy jacked up price.

The +R are the TY and the -R are the prodisc. I have burned 50-60 of the prodisc wtihout any problems, so I don't agree with aabbccdd that the media isn't good. However, it isn't is good as the TY. Go with the +R made in Japan and you'll get the TY. However, it is time to start living in the year 2005. You accessed this forum so I have confidence in your online ability.. Go to Meritline.com and get 100 TY for $32 shipped. STOP being so paronoid about buying stuff online. If you use a credit card you can always safe b/c you can dispute any problems with the CC company. I do not know of any stores that stock name brand TY media, and if you find one you will pay for it!!

that is incorrect, All my 8X fuji are prodisc. They burn at a max of 8.1 with decrypter. I haven't seen any -r that are TY or any -R that are made in Japan.

That is incorrect I have some fuji -r 8x sitting right here.
fuji -r 4x
fuji -r 8x
I know this to be true because my dvd players will only play -r media....the 4x are marked made in Taiwan and the 8x or marked made in japan.

Really guys the best bet is to buy bland media online.that way YOU KNOW FOR SURE what your getting, i stick with TY or Ritek.buying blank media in the box stores is like a crap shoot you never know what you getting till you get it home and ID it.so i stick with meritline.com or supermediastore.com so its fool proof what iam getting.

easy Jim, I was just stating that the -R 8X media made by Fuji that I have seen and used is Prodisc. I , personally have never seen any 8X media that is fuji -r that is TY. But I beleive you, the Made in Japan media is TY and the tawain is prodisc. In my expeirence the prodisc isn't crap though.

Well you told me I was wrong,so I was just letting you know that im not.
I agree with you, prodisc is reasonably good media,I still have some of my 4x that I use on certain occasions.
I ordered a bunch of those ty -r 4x from supermedia store, and I couldnt be happier with them.

so to end this thread ---- FUJI---If it is made in Japan it is most likely TY and if it made in Tawain than it is probably prodisc
