hey all...encoded a file it has sound..when i play it on the computer it plays with sound..when i put it on disc it has no sound...wht im i /should i do ?the originally audio file stats are..frauhofer lls mpeg layer 3 codec samply 2400hz 2 stereo..i simply umcompress it (pcm) and add it to dvd2svcd w/cce or tmpe along w/the video, the video is good yet no sound on svcd when burned..the encoded file stats are mpeg 1 audio layer 1 44100hz 128 kb.. if that is my problem what should i change the format of the audio to ..my dvd player has played several other svcd s...flawlessly. this one and a few made prior just won t play audio..when i play the movie from my hhd it plays with sound...if i use the disc no sound..somehow im not getting the sound put on disc..and also with tmpeg alone no sound

a shot in the dark . . . is the computer your playing the movie the same place where you burned it and played it originally? What you could do is open up the file on the cd in an editor like virtual dub and check file properties to see how the file you are having problems with is encoded, or you could even use winamp to view the movie then check the file properties with alt+3 and see what it says for audio

Just use VirtualDub and load your .avi. Click on the file menu and find "Save .WAV". Just save the .wav to your hard drive, then load TMPGEnc normally, but choose the .wav file as your audio source, then encode as normally. Should work ok for you.

the "encode as normally" includes changing to mp3 as well, just curious?

I usually save the audio file as a new .mp2 file, and the video as .m2v. I'm not expert, I just learned how to burn dvd's and make TMPEGenc work a few days ago, so I may not have all your answers. This way worked for me tho.

im using dvd2svcd..w/cce or tmpgnc..what program do u use to save the audio as MP2 ..iv e not a clue please help

from what I understand he said to open the video and virtual dub and save the audio stream as a wav file. go into tempgenc open the video choose your video settings and for audio choose a wav, then it well ask you what file and you point it to the one you saved from when you made it in virtual dub.
There's a program called GSpot which reads all the video and audeo codecs and bit rate info in a video file. you can use that to compare the video file on your hdd and the one on the cd to see if it's the same codecs or if the audio is missing on the video in the cd. Once you do that you'll have a better idea of what to do cause you'll know what's wrong with the file. If it's the wrong codec that the audio on the cd is in, you re-encode and change it or if the audio is absent all together for whatever reason you just re-encode and make sure it's there this time.
