PS2 slim + Action Replay MAX / Xploder v5 problem! HELP!

I have ps2 slim (v12) modded with a Matrix infinity 1.39
When i try to put AR Max or Xploder v5 cheats on GTA San Andreas when I put the San Andreas backup it won't start. The AR / Xploder says that no disc is present or it is damaged. I previously owned a v4 with a Matrix 1009 on it and it worked even if it was a backup. What's my problem? Please help!
