Samsung MS28

I followed these instructions for the firmtool:

Copied firmtool, original FW (renamed from SAM-OFW.bin to orig.bin) and hacked FW (renamed from Sam-CFW.bin to hacked.bin) to a USB stick (G:)

Opened Command Prompt and went to G: directory and typed "firmtool orig.bin hacked.bin (pressed enter and firmtool ran with no problems).

Then renamed hacked.bin to Sam-CFW.bin and flash with IPREP

Will this work? Thanks for the help.
looks good.. but you can just run iprep all the way. Just update the definitions and load 1.5 into iprep for the samsung, and then just run the dSam and it will do it all for you. Then run fSam and it will flash it for you. I like to also use the rSam before flashing updates just to be safe.. but i know you can overwrite ix1.4 with ix1.5

just wanted to post. I followed the tut for flashing a liteon with a via card. (it was my first liteon, and I obviously have the via card).

I used an xtractor 360 with spear.

As long as you follow the guide exactly, there should not be any issues. I did so, and everything worked perfect first time.

so, hope all goes well with everyone. If there are any questions, like I said, I'll do my best to help.

Does anyone know if it's possible to dump the liteon key and flash the drive without using the JungleFlasher tool? I'm not able to get PortIO installed properly because my VIA drivers keep reinstalling themselves, in addition to the PortIO.exe file not extracting the drivers - it just tells me that it's already installed. What I'm hoping is that I can use DVDKey16 in DOS mode and dump/flash that way. Anyone have any insights to offer? Thanks in advance.

you can definitely dump all the necessary stuff without the jungle flasher, but flashing, as far as I know, you have to use the jungle flasher

Thanks for the reply, guessswho, that's pretty terrible news for me right now :S

I managed to get the files dumped via dos, but now I apparently have nothing to do with them cause of freakin PortIO... man I hate that prog. Does anyone know of a location where I can download the PortIO.ini driver file that gets extracted by the executable file? As I said it does nothing for me, and apparently the PortIO driver from the creator's site isn't the same thing, as I can't set it as my SATA driver.

Nope... Even though I might be able to swing something being that I have the .sys and .dll files I still can't get my VIA drivers permanently uninstalled - whenever I remove them after I restart or attempt to install the new drivers it always reinstalls the old ones. I hate Windows!!!

I didn't dump the firmware I dumped the key using ck3 lite and a paperclip bridging the TX points, then I created a DOS bootdisk including dvdkey. It was painfully simple compared to what I now must do, which is figure out some way of getting PortIO's driver assigned to my SATA device, or to create hacked firmware using the key I extracted from the liteon.

Once you have the key can't you spoof an easier flashable drive?

There is one site that you can go to get the dll.

Do a google search for maximus's 360 xtractor. On the website, there is a downloads section. Within that, there is a downloads for the xtractor reader, usb drivers, and ..... da da da portio32.

When you download the portio, it is in a zip or rar I think, but within it is a .dll file for the driver. Then just go to add new hardware, and then say you have disk, locate the .dll, and it will install it.

That's what I did, and it worked.

Hopeully that should do it for you man

Working Benq 1.41 --> 1.5 ?

Out of the maybe 5 consoles I flashed,
I have all the original iPrep folders saved in Gmail,
Except for 1.

Is it a problem if I only want to update from 1.41 to 1.5 on a working console?

Sounds like he had the original FW for the other 4 but is worried because he doesn't have it for the one left.

IMO there should not be an issue however I restored mine back to the original before flashing with 1.5. Do you have another 360 with the same drive type? If so just use that FW but replace the key.

Thanks again for the reply, I really appreciate the help.

I managed to get JungleFlasher working by downloading the new CK3 software and using the driver installer included in that package, and I managed to get my drive recognized and the keys dumped with it. But now the biggest problem I have is that the JungleFlasher window is too small for me to view the option buttons, so I have to navigate blindly by keyboard, which doesn't work. I would hate to have to reinstall windows just because I can't view a program window in its true size... Any advice on that front?

Merry Christmas to all! And a happy Hannukah!

Ok! It seems I managed to get it done, against all odds, considering I had to use my keyboard to blindly navigate JungleFlasher to get the hacked firmware, after which CK3 immediately crashed Windows whenever I turned it on. So I ended up using the hacked firmware and l-o-eras and dosflash to flash the drive in DOS mode, which seems to have worked. Now it's just a matter of getting a game burned onto my memorex DVD+R DL disks, which is apparently a process in and of itself. Thanks for the advice, here's hoping it worked.

Hey there, can i ask what O/S you are using ? quite a few people seem to be having some issues with JungleFlasher. The people that seem to be experiencing probs are the ones using Win XP I'm just curious as quite a few are using Vista as well and don't seem to be experiencing any problems.
Thanks

Question, my 360 is using BenQ drive and its going to be my first time installing ixtreme FW. Does the Xbox 360 textbook 2008 Edition pdf guide can still be used as a guide or the new ixtreme has a different method?

Yes, I'm using XP, and the biggest problems I faced were getting the PortIO driver installed because I couldn't find the actual driver and the EXE didn't extract it, and eventually using CK3 in Windows, which after a day of reasonable usage with multiple crashes started crashing my comp every time I turned it on whenever Windows was loading or running.

OK..thanks for that
Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble.just a thought now i know you said drivers and .EXE weren't working for you,i'm just curious if mode B is on to cause comp freezing,i know it's auto but they have a tutorial on how to permanetly dis-able it or temp dis-able so i'm kind of wondering if there is a slight fault with the kit ?? I may be totally wrong.. but heres the tutorial on the F/W and dis-abling mode B

http://www.maximusgames.net/downloads/Ma...orManualv11.pdf

oopps i don't know if if i am allowed to link that...sorry...i'm sure it will be deleted if i'm not,it's only a tutorial

I used windows xp to flash my liteon, and as long as you follow the tut, it works just fine.

Addtionally, I just installed the portio .dll, I didn't use the .exe

I would recomend just installing the .dll
