I was burning 2 discs today. One was Wizard Of Oz (extras only) & the other was City Hall (full disc)& I had massive speed drops (from 8x to below 4x) with both discs & my buffers almost ran out while burning the TY disc with a newly defragmented HD. I guess I'll stick to 4x from now on for DVD burning...

The Prodisc started at 8x, went down to 2x then hovered around 4x for the rest of the burn.

My TY disc started at 6x, went to 8x, dropped to 4x (in a different place than the Prodisc) then went back to 8x for the rest of the burn.

I don't have these problems at 4x with my Plextor DVDRW drive. Must be something with the media. As to the 2 movie backups I'll burn them at 4x on another set of discs.

If your buffer is maxed out you probably don't have enough RAM and or to many programs running on your computer.
