Those panasonic -4x's may already be ty's. Look here:http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/155431

You can use dvd decrypter/nero/dvdinfopro/or dvdidentifier to find your actual media code on those panasonic's.

I try to buy japanese media.Just look on the wrappers.Japan makes the finest discs.Tdk -4x does have c-magnetics produce some of their media. Stay away from cmc-mag codes.

You having great success with those panasonics, stick with them or get official ty's.

I like the maxell -4x yellowtops.They are produced by maxell/ty/and ritek,but I got my printable ty's ordered.

[Memorex is good too]! lol

Maybe if you know which ones are the good ones.Looking at dogbomb's media list, I see lot's of cmc-mags listed as one of their manufacturers. They do have some good manufacturers, but is a gamble for a newbie finding good quality media.

Vitascope is most likely using ty's right now,why step down on quality?

Oh please - let's not go through all this again. If you're using Memorex successfully then that's just fine. The sad fact is (and I know from bitter experience) that you cannot guarantee what you're going to get. I have plenty of Memorex backups that are still going strong but I will never buy any more because it's just not worth the risk IMO.
