This is the first time in over 10 years of web access I have posted a comment so please be gentle.

This is realy a continuation from thread
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/41/142061
which was stopped 9th March and really an idea based on the last postings of shady08.

As far as I can can tell from the thread the idea was that the DVD 9 GT4 layer 0 (1) is built from the inside out and layer 1 (2) is build also from the inside out.

But most(?) DVD-DL write layer 0 (1) from the inside out and layer 1 (2) from the outside in.

The thread said that it was easy to extract layer 0 (1) and layer 1 (2) as two separate ISO's. Shady08 also stated that his DVD-DL software (nero?) could burn the two separte layers with a user defined offset.

So if the ISO were burnt back to the DVD9 disc as separate layers layer 0 (1) would be OK but layer 1 (2) would start at the outside of the disc not the inside of the disc, and if I am not mistaken this would not make the backup work as the code would be trying to read wrong or no data at all.

OK here is the idea :-

Create two separate ISO one for layer 0 (1) and one for layer 1 (2). Find or write a program which will reverse the layer 1 (2) ISO completely. Don't ask me how a ISO is constructed I do not know, so a straight reverse might not work. Burn layer 0 (1) back to the disc as normal but burn the layer 1 (2) [reversed ISO] back to layer 1 (2) using the user defined offset to set the last part of the [reversed ISO] at the starting point of the inside part of layer 1 (2) and the first part of the [reversed ISO] at the outer part of layer 1 (2).

Thus in effect writing the ISO backwards making the disc layer 1 (2) read from the inside to the outside even though the disc has actually been burn from the outside in.

I really hope people understand this idea because it is very hard to put into words (see diagram). Like I said first post in 10 years be gentle....

This would be so difficult. I looked at the ISO in WinHex and it is almost 9 MILLION PAGES of code. Better off buying the game.
