My computer isnt burning cds! Please help!

It wont burn cds anymore. It use to. And my computer is also suppose to be able to burn dvds but I dont know how. It shows there isnt a cd in there or it says its burning and it isnt. I really want to burn cds and dvds but it isnt working and I dont know what to do. Please help!

Try uninstalling/reinstalling the drive, and also try to update your firmware.

I have a Dell with Windows XP. Im not sure all the techincal info. It says Dimension 2400 and thats all I really know.

how can you help someone who doesnt know his specs. goto the website of your manufacturer and get the specs. Also you can go to control panel, system, hardware and then device manager. You will see a list of your hardware.

i said rom drives as i don't know if you have a cd rom burner, a dvd rom burner or a combo drive that burns cds & plays dvds. check your manual for that info or on faceplate of the rom drive

according to your info on the drive is only a cd writer so can't burn or play dvds. get a cd/dvd diskcleaner to clean the laser lens on the drive
