Help please. CD drive problem?

I have a PS2 version 7 (39001)which the drive doesn't spin. The system powers up OK, the start screen is on, but the drive turns for about half a second and stops.I have already replaced the CD Drive unit with a new one and it does the same thing. Any ideas?

hmm im not sure but maybe something is wrong with the ps2 itself n not the drive because u changed the drive n the same problem is still occouring so i would say something is wrong with the ps2 n not the drive. maybe u should take it to someone who repairs ps2's
