I have been backing up movies for 3 months now. I bought 2spindles of Fujie film DVD , one DVD-R and one DVD+R both are 8X.
I have had no problems burning the -R at 8times.

I didn`t realize I had picked up the DVD+R.
A friend gave me one blank vertiben DVD+R 8X to test to see if it would play in my 4 stand alone DVD players. When a burnt a movie it burned at 16X and plays in all 4 DVD players.
My question is should I return the unopened DVD+R and exchange for -R or should I keep them becaude they burn at a higher speed.
Also I have read so many threads on everyone saying to burn at no more than 4X. Ihave not seen a problem burnig at 8X and once at 16 times. I don`t understand how the +R burnt at 16 times.

Thanks

id say its because you own a drive with firmware like a pioneer or asus that will burn to 16x on selected media

When backing up movies, speed isnt as important as disc quality, and there is a reason why ppl burn at 4x (coasters or lack of)

Personally id just hang onto the +r but set your write speed to 4x
