I have a v 1.6 XBOX (retail HD), mechassault softmod (via softmod installer deluxe) with UnleashX set as dash. I have read the Slayer's manual and FAQ's extensively and have yet to find this question answered specifically.

I am UNABLE TO NETWORK my box to PC (this is a PC issue I'm sure), and it's clear from Slayer's FAQ's that you do not HAVE to back up the files from C: and E: retail drive in order to do the slayer's install on a new HD.

Can Slayer's boot install to a new, large HD from scratch and produce a functioning, 'softmod' XBOX?

...or if not, is there another way to do this? I will just put my retail HD on the shelf, and therefore I will still have all my Stock XBOX stuff backed up.

Any help will be appreciated.
