The ones I saw in the store were made in Taiwan. According to this site, Verbatim Datalifeplus are very highly recommended. Are these reliable? I need something that will last a lifetime if I keep them in the right environment. Thanks

Here's a cheaper,well reputable store:http://meritline.com/dvd-r-verbatim-dvd-r-media-94971.html

It does state: Metal Azo dye. I don't know how the dash format verb -8x's are, I do have 50 of the +8x hub printables ordered from here. Those +8 non-printable data life plus are sweeeet!

I usually go by: Made in Japan, but these 8x verbatim data life plus are very good, even though they are made in taiwan. Some of the verbatim data life 4x,made in taiwan, you want to watch out for. Some reports of cmags on some of them.
Good Luck

ive been using 100s of the verb's for a while now, datalifeplus 8x. i burn them at 4x by the way, not one single problem upon playback touch wood. I buy them in tubs of 25 from www.ebuyer.com in the UK; So far have had tubs from taiwan, singapore and india. The media code of ALL the above have been MCC 02RG20 .

see here - http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?selectmedia=1805#comments

Previously i was using bulkpaq 8x Orange with tyg02 media code, lots of problems taught me to set my burn limit to 4300mb, and even though i have faith in the Verb's, stubbornly stick to the 4300mb limit and at 4x. i got far too many bulkpaq discs that will potentially skip on playback, for a long time to come as theyre all thru my collection..

ps All the 8x -R Verb's i've had, whether from Taiwan, India or Singapore, have media code MCC 02RG20, are Datalifeplus, and are labelled 'Advanced AZO' on the packaging
