HELP DVDD is Reading at 10X and burning at max.

I've read on these forums that i should burn under 4X. not too sure about read speed any help please?

read speed = full speed ahead captain
burn speed = to the right of the hard disc to dvd button is writing speed, change from max to 4x

I was burning at 4x on the old DVDD. I dont remember old DVDD reading so quick. When i put 4x to burn it goes higher and burns at almost 6x. When i put 1x it goes up to 4x. Is that a problem?
