Is it possible to convert AVI and/or Mpeg to ISO which can be burned straight onto a DVD disc?
Or vice Versa, can i convert an ISO into an AVI or Mpeg?

thanks for any replies,

I,m not sure you are asking the correct question?

An ISO is simply a image of files. You can make any files into an image (ISO) file. Any writing software can create or write ISO's.

So you wouldnt be able to change a ISO to mpeg or AVI file.

Is what your trying to do is to convert AVI, or Mpeg to DVD compliant files (.VOB, .IFO, .BUP)?

another alternative but one which is time consuming is cucusofts avi 2 mpeg .Once the files have been convertered to an mpeg2 compatible format then you can use a program like tmpgenc dvd author to add your menus etc before nero is utilised as the burning agent.Although this is a round about way of getting your files to dvd it is a great way of using disfferent pieces of software in an experimental process.
Not everything works for everybody but its still fun to find different ways to achieve the same goal.

hi

@ bbmayo

i have a query on divxtodvd? can you shed some light on it?

ok i converted this file

724 MB, 2046 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 480*576 (0.83:1),

from a svcd mpeg and in its original state it would fill the screen on play back!

now when i used divxtodvd on all possible conversion formats like 16:9 4:3 PAL NTSC AUTO...

it made a little veiwing window when it was vobs? sort of half the size of your tv screen placed in the center?

and the files converted useing gspot and avicodec say what is was like... but in reality it wasnt like the below it just seemed it.

NTSC 16:9 = 148 MB, 9000 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 720*480 (2.21:1), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD)

PAL 16:9 198 MB, 9000 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 720*576 (2.21:1), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD)

AUTO = 171 MB, 9000 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 720*576 (16:9), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD)

16:9 made a long vertical box with a short width? sort of opposite to what it should be??

and simarlar to 4:3

but all conversions on ANY! settings made a small screen, small viewing box placed in center of TV.

so in the end i used tmpgenc on it and it actually made the original file of 724 MB, 2046 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 480*576 (0.83:1),

to

PAL 16:9 198 MB, 9000 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 720*576 (2.21:1), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD)

go figure?

not sure if we have been lucky on what comes out of divxtodvd with regard to avi or not?

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

I can honestly say I have never heard of or seen that before? Sounds odd at the least I would check with DivXtoDVD (VSO) and see if they are aware of this happening? I am at work right now and having a problem getting to there site. I havent had this problem with DivXtoDVD myself, and I have converted DivX, AVI, MPEG1/2, and VCD I havent done a SVCD though. I will try one and see what happens. So it's hard to say because I haven't run into that?
