how can I convert DVD in to AVI?

I need to convert part of an interview which is on a DVD to AVI format. I would like to be able to upload the AVI to a server so it can be viewed online.

Download Xilisoft DVD Ripper at http://www.xilisoft.com. Then select "File"->"Encode Segment" to set the beginning time and duration. In the "Output" area, you can choose AVI format as output format. So you can get an .AVI file part.
