Hi I need help if possible is it possible to change the protection code on my sony dvd recorder so I can copy a new dvd, with the new protection on it. I know there is a way to do away with it but don't know how.

Is this a stand alone recorder or your computer DVD writer?

From what I know you can Not Disable the Copy protection on Standalone DVD Recorders unless you can Find some sort of Firmware Hack for the DVD Recorder that disables the Copy protection Detection....

Why don"t you just do it like every one else does it??
Use your PC to Copy the DVD you want to Copy....

I would but this DVD is PAL format and won't play on my comp. and I have to get a new DVD program for coping dvd's I have Roxio and it won't copy, copy protected dvd's I guess I will have to do that but don't know about the PAL formated one. I have a PAL dvd player on my stereo and have had no problems this far till the new copy protection came out what a bummer guess I have to upgrade everything it's just a big pain.
I have a Sony dvd recorder on my stereo that is what I use to make thev 1st copy then I copy the copy on my comp and it works fine up till now.

The Movies being in PAL format would not make any differance in being able to Play it on your PC, Maybe you could have a problem if the Region code on the DVD is different that the Region code on your Drive but that can be solved by useing "DVD Regeon Free"...

As for the New Forms of DVD copy protection Namely the Bad sector protections Have been cracked and AnyDVD can decrypt these DVD"s and so Can DVD Decryptor so you should Have absolutly no problem copying this DVD useing AnyDVD as your Decryptor as it will remove the Regeon code and the Copy protection....

The Latest version of AnyDVD has support for the Newest Bad secotor DVD Protections....

Even if the DVD does have some New Unheard of Copy protection it should Not Stop you from Playing the DVD on your PC as Long as the Regeon code is correct...

Cheers
