The only issue with the -or + is player(or even burner) compatibility.
The -r are somewhat more compatible, because its an older format. So it plays in the older players, and most of the new ones.The +is is a newer format, and thus, wont play in some of the older players, but will play in most new players.
As far as one format, being better than the other,ive never seen any proof of this being so.
You can check the compatibility of your players with this chart.
