how to burn a 10 mins DVD on a CD-R and make the DVD player play it

Yes, i have created the DVD image and burn it onto a CD-R. It works fine in the vitual deamon. But it doesn't work in the actual DVD player.
Anyone knows why?
And what should i do to make it play onthe DVD player?

if possible, try to make vcd or svcd (video cd or super video cd) movies ripped into this format will play on dvd players.. you can burn a vcd in nero burn
