Hello, here is my situation. I have a pretty old Bose 5.1 system. I don't want to use the analog RCA cables for sound because it has a digital coax input cable. (if I an correct it should be pretty similiar in quality to optical calbes which it doesn't support)

Anyways since my DVD player only has optical out for sound (no digital coax) I am looking for a converter that will take the optical and connect it to the coax. I have found a few online but the price ranges from just 17 to 80 bucks.

I am not sure what the difference is, and whether or not each model will affect the final sound input. I would like to buy the cheaper one, and have it still sound the same (no interference at all).

Any thoughts?

anyone (assuming it works in the first place) should do since you are feeding into Bose speakers. Just buy it from a place that will let you return if it doesn't and get the cheaperst one. Maybe post link to the 18 dolalr ones so we can take a look?

I guess I am blind after all. Pick either the first or the last, depending on which comes up cheaper after tax and shipping
