yo!
So I'm on a work computer, and I can't access sites like gamespy because of a program called 'Interweb' - is there a way to bypass these programs which block certain pages without being an administrator etc.?
Many thanks.

Well Yes and No.

Reason I say this, is I too have the same problem.

As far as hacking goes...sorry, can't help.

All it is, is a filter. I don't know or think there is any way around that, unless you go through the proxy settings and go that route. Because if it is blocked for you, it is blocked for everyone else.

If you have any other info, post it up and I will see what if I can help, cause I know that I have found ways around it. ;)

yeah I use it to play games at school and use e-mail, because for some reson they block it.
this one works too http://www.guardster.com/
As does this one https://webproxy.kaxy.com/index.php, the thing is my school would block the websites we would use so we had to keep finding more of them.

I cant really remember now it was a couple of weeks ago...

I think the one I got best results with (5 seconds worth of d/l at 235kbps) was called 'HTTP Tunneler', but my memory could have failed me utterly..

Ok...

Well it might just be the ports that you can't connect too.

You will have to see what can and cannot get through.

My advice, you might be able to use BitTorrent if you are looking for a p2p app, cause all the other ones are probably blocked.

Any more info you can provide?

Try this...

Start>All Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt

Type in:

netstat -an

And look for port 6667, I think that is the port to connect for p2p networks and IM clients to work, but don't quote me on it.

Sounds like a simple issue, cause if you are all playing game on a lan, or however, you are connecting somehow.

I am no expert on this, but check that first.

Your preaching to the choir here.

I think the MP and RIAA are ridiculous for doing this.

What! Do they think they are going to stop them while they are young or something?! LOL!

They probably are going to sue the colleges as well, because they are using THEIR network.

Me smells a conspiracy theory going on here.

Kinda strange, doesn't it seem?

LOL! Yeah...I am SO sure.

Remember this thread...

http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/6238.cfm

I seriously don't see why not. Even IF students use THEIR servers and computers, they will more than likely get in trouble and the school would be sued as well.

Generating MORE money for the greedy companies.
