why not place it on a "cd" where it belongs and just use any burning program out there to burn it like Alcohol 120 or Nero.

I'm havin the same problem, I made a copy of my GS V3 and then lost the original:(, but now when I put the cd-r in I get the red screen that says insert a ps2 formatted game, or something like that. Just trying to figure out how to get this to work, any help would be great.

Thanx,

Yes, swap magic will most definitely help when booting burned games, seeing as that is what it is used for. If you want to learn more, check out this site, http://www.geocities.com/modchipzone/

If you want to get a mod chip installed, and not have to worry about the swap magic stuff, this site offers that as well...

I prefer the mod chip just because then you do not have to worry about all of the extra stuff in order to play your burned games. If you get swap magic, then you have to insert the swap magic cd first, then you have to pull out your drive without pressing the eject button, and then you have to put in the burned disc. That is a hassel just to play a burned game. So if you do go with swap magic, make sure to get a flip top case so you do not have to crank out your cd/dvd rom drive every time. If you get a mod chip installed, then all you have to do is enter the burned disc into the drive and it will boot up perfectly.

i heard that if you mod ur ps2... it'll ruin the video quality and the dvd player would not work anymore.... i never use the dvd capabilities anyways so thats ok, but will it really screw up the video on some games...

No, it does not do anything to the video on games. The thing you might be thinking of is the laser problem on the new slimline ps2's. If you do not do the so-called "diode" fix after you install a mod chip, your laser has a good chance of going out, hence you will not be able to do anything with a broken laser.

But dont expect your modchip to work perfectly, i have the "Matrix infinty" installed in my "scph 50002" console, and everynow and then my ps2 has errors, and my ps2 is brand new, just yesterday while playing devilmaycry3 the game was loading then suddenly my ps2 just froze, i pressed the reset button on my console and nuthing happend, so i tried to eject the game to see if it will respond..and nothing so i had to turn it off at the back...what a shame..lol..Hey! is it illegal to download ps2 iso images and burn them to dvd+r????

@-'skyda'~

Use better media,
cheap media will work for movies BUT NOT PS2 GAMES.
burn at 2x speed (max)
use DVD Decrypter for the read and the burn

http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

The following list is in preference order.

MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<-----------------VERBATIM MY CHOICE #1
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)<--------------FUJIFILM (made in japan) MY CHOICE #2

Use Quality Media I use
Verbatim dvd+r

***** BURN AT NO MORE THAN 2X****** <-----------(IMPORTANT)
TURN OFF ANY BACKGROUND APPLICATIONS

1. Take the ps2 game put it in the dvd rom or dvd burner, your choice.

2. open the dvd decryptor program then go to to tool bar and hit MODE>ISO>READ. Then choose the correct dvd drive that the game is in as the "source". Also choose where you want the files to be stored on the pc hdd. THEN CLICK DECRYPT , or the huge graphical picture at the bottom of the program which makes it run. The game is now copying to your HDD. Take the game out when finished (it might take a while).

3. Go to the same tab in dvd decryptor and choose MODE>ISO>WRITE. This will then let you look for the files you just created in step 2. Select the file that you just created. (There is only 2 files creadted so pick the .mds) (The smaller file)Then click WRITE, make sure there is blank DVD in the drive.

This is not true. I burn all my games with 10 cent dvds and burn at 8x every time and i have not had any trouble with my games( I have burned more than 25). It doesn't matter how fast you burn a dvd, a dvd burned at 16x is the same as a dvd burned at 2x. My burner isn't even an expensive one. Its a $45 lite on dual layer. I copy to hard drive with dvd decypter and burn with Nero. I have xp pro and a 2.2 ghz prossesor. So to those of you who think speed is important, it isn't.

actually it can be. just cuz you burn at high speeds n they work all the time doesnt mean this is true of others. but the opposite can also be said, ive heard of ppl saying they burned at slowest speed n the game skips, freezes etc. and once they burned at full speed, it worked perfectly. i for one used to burn at 4x speed n they usually come out fine, but since im not consistent with media, i took the safe side n burned at 2x. just do what works for you.
