I downloaded the trial version of DVD Copy 3 from the Intervideo website. They say it is a fully functional copy.
I used AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter to rip a 4.20 Gb movie to my hard drive. I then used DVD Copy 3 but it says I needed 2 discs for this movie so I have to click on the fit to one disc tab. Is this right or am I doing something wrong?

nope, fit to one disc is the option you need, and then the compression rate is shown in numbers 1-5, 1 being the most compression.
Great program for compression,its one of my favorite apps,but lousy for editing.

Am I missing something here? Why would you go that extra step and use a second program to put the DVD on your HD first and then use DVD Copy 3 to just burn it? The program is so much more than that, and is quite capable of taking care of backing up a DVD on just one step or one press of a button and you have the movie on your disc. If you HAVE DVD Copy 3, just use it as it was meant to be used, extra steps should not be necessary.

Why did I use that extra step?
Here is your ANSWER: Ripped a movie with AnyDVD running in the background. THEN, I used DVD Copy 3 to rip the movie (forgot which one) but it said it won't be able to because it is copyrighted. SO, I used Decrypter to rip it and then used DVD Copy 3. SO, that should answer your QUESTION as to why I used both AnyDVD and Decrypter, OKAY!
Besides, this was part of an over-all experiment to see which program, Shrink or DVDCopy 3 provides the best copy. To compare both, you should have no bias in your protocol, it has to be identical.
Well, the main question was why DVDCopy3 is seeing the ripped movie as 7 Gb when both pre-rip and the Decrypted version only has 4.2 Gb.
I'm happy with both Decrypter and Shrink (Nero Recode 2) for now.
I appreciate some of the snotty replies!

I owe you an apology, I shouldn't have mde the "snotty reply."
You really ought to give AnyDVD and Copy3 another reply. Shrink does a good job but it takes three times longer to complete and it's not quite as sharp.
