Ok I'm not new at backing up movies but I'm clueless about the lingo and the tech. Here is my problem. I am trying to back up SPANGLISH. I tried dvd xpress with entire disc checked and unchecked.Didn't work. I get an --error reading sectors!-- message, so I figured try dvd xcopy to remove all the extras. Now the entire movie fits on one disc, only problem is one half is on one disc one and the other is on disc two. How can I put them on the same disc? Can anybody help. Thanks. Sorry if I violated any rules I'm new at this and I appologize.

If you use CloneDVD2, you don't have to use or need to use DVD Shrink.

Thanks very much for the replies. After a little searching I found someone else had the problem with the same movie and they were recommended AnyDVD. So I bought it and it worked. Though only the feature burned. But Its all I wanted from this dvd. Anybody know if there is a program that will fit any movie on a 4.7 GB disc? Just curious. Maybe I should do some searching, but those whoi answered were pretty helpful. Thanks Very Much for all the help.

You can copy the whole disc in CloneDVD2. Just make sure you select the appropriate menu item.

Using DVDshrink copy one disc as a ISO file, then open the second disc, go to reauthor, and open the ISO file and add it to the second disc, make sure you put them in order, get ridoff the extras in both and backup and burn. It works for me.

Sounds good. I will give it a try. Oh one more question. If I already have a program to backup movies, will installing another cause either one to malfunction? I have copyXpress which I purchased in like mid 2004 and it has worked very good for me. It never gave me a problem until recently with some newer movies i.e.(grudge,forgotten,spanglish).Thanks again for everyones elp.

At one point I had XCopy, Shrink, Nero, DVD Decrypter and Any DVD - no conflicts. I no longer have X Copy since I think the other programs do a job better. As far as I know only DVD Decrytper (free) and Any DVD will break the new codes on the movies you had problems with.
As long as your back up program compresses also you should have no problems with AnyDVD fitting on 1 disc. If you want everything including the trailers in the setting tab make sure 'remove annoying adverts and trailers' is not checked. Or you can have it checked and check 'jump directly to title menu' to skip the trailers and adverts and go to the menu. More extras mean more compression is needed and can sometimes affect the playback quality.
Which burning/backup software are you using?

I'm using xpress. And sometimes I use xcopy,I like the simplicity of it. Are these other programs simple to use? This is my first experience with something other than xcopy. How long does it take to backup a movie with shrink? Is it user friendly? Are other programs as user friendly as xpress?

Backup times vary according to movie, doing complete movie or main title only, CPU speed, writer speed, etc, etc, etc. (lots of varibles).
CloneDVD2 is as easy to use as DVDXCopy with better results. For simplicity, the combo of AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 is hard to beat. IMHO...

If you want easy and don't mind paying, you get the most bang for your buck with the Any DVD and Clone DVD2 combo. These are really good proggys and can be used in conjunction with DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter if you want. I had/still have but do not use Xcopy, I have found the newer programs do better job.
