I need advise to start 8mm to DVD and Editing software

I have a P3 Dell with only a cd burner. Can you recommend the things I need (dvd burner,software, firewire,etc.) ? Ebay seems to have good prices on editing software - is Adobe pretty good? I'm not sure if there is a way to feed in the video signal. Thanks for helping me .... Mike

Recommendations:

For PC: A capture device. Either internal Video card(ATI All In Wonder)or external devices such as ATI USB 2.0 Wonder card or ADS DVD Xpress. Both plug in USB 2.0. Each device costs around $100

A DVD Double Layer internal DVD -/+ RW CDROM.( ($99)

Camcorder:
Your camcorder must still be able to play 8mm tapes (test on your TV). If O.K. -you then attach the camera to any of the devices above and use any simple software app. (Adobe, Ulead Movie Factory3, Pinnacle)
