As the subject states, I want to use the solderless adaptor to solder in for the Xenium ice chip. Pretty much only reason was that the D0 wire is already there and ready to go. The adaptor as is isn't long enought to go thru the board and I'm afraid that if I attempt to solder it, it'll give me alot of cold joints. Thought about using the rivulets that it came with as a bridge between the 2. Any suggestions? Or would I be better off without soldering that adaptor?

since you're going to be soldering anyway, why not just stop in a radio shack and buy the pinheader needed then solder your D0 wire? it would be much more stable, especially when you talk of adding the rivets and stuff. just my 2 cents.

Your probably right. However, I finally opened up the package with the modchip and there's a mess of items in there that I have no idea what they are for. There's a USB connector, where is that connected? There's a small thin board with 2 connectors on it as well as a connector with the same head on both ends but one as what looks to be a ground strap. Also, there's a 2-wire connector, where is this suppose to go to? Wasn't the wire for the D0 suppose to be included in with it as well?

i just did a xenium ice a couple of months ago but i cant remember what all it had. i know the USB thingy plugs into a controller port to give you a USB connection for like a jump drive or whatever. it should have also come with a pin header to solder to the board. on their website they have a great manual that should explain what all the stuff is for. i just soldered in the pinheader and mounted my D0 wire and thats all it took. - here is the link for the 65 page ice noob guide - it explains what everything is for - http://www.teamxodus.com/pictures/Manuals/iceguide.pdf

Thanks, I found it earlier today. I got the header in, now I'm just trying to find a good way to get the wire in the D0, It looks to be somewhat complicated as the hole is filled with solder and my solder tip may be too big to get at it, any suggestions?

as far as i know it shouln't be filled with solder, maybe just some varnish. get a small exacto hobby knife and spin it around in there to clean the hole out. if it is filled with solder just get your D0 wire ready and put it on the D0 point, then heta the wire and it should heat the solder enough to drop in the hole. you'll have to get pretty close to the board with the iron for a minute, but it should work fine. i still cant imagine it would be filled with solder unless someone has attempted to mod it before.

Thanks for the help Darthnip. Not really sure what was in the D0 hole as I had tinned the wire before attempting to install it in. Noone's opened the system before as far as I can tell since none of the stickers were broken. Got it up and running now. All that's left is looking for/flashing a new bios and new dash. In hindsight, I should've did more research before starting but oh well, live and learn

yeha i'm sure all the answers you needed were here somewhere, alot of people just get overwhelmed by the whole modding thing at first, no harm done. Glad you got it going.
