cannot play original discs with my chipped PS2, why?

I have had my PS2 chipped for ages, i beleive its a Messiah chip. I recently bought the new Gran Turismo but it will not play, it goes through to the browser screen and then says that it has problems reading the disc, i also cannot play movies - any ideas fellas?
