I'm just curious, because DVD decrypter easily handles all movie dvds I've put in it, and PC games are hardly any harder. But I don't have extra hardware for my ps2 like a chip or fliptop and I don't really want one. Why can't there be a software solution to just 1:1 backup my games before my two year old sister uses them as frisbees?

PS2 games are actually pressed DVD/CD discs, they are not burned. PS2 games use the Burst Cutting Area (BCA) of the disc to identify themselves to the PS2 unit. The BCA is not part of a disc that you can burn on, it is only replicated on pressed discs. So, the only way to play backups is to get boot-discs or a mod-chip.

yeah, just get yourself swap magic and leard to use a slidecard. It will save you a ton of money in the long run. You will never have to replace a game again.
on a side not i use to now a few people in PA from the McManis clan, any relations there?

If only we never needed SM or a modchip, i think sony would make far much more cash if there consoles were able to play backups without Extra hardware but i dont see that happening so Swap Magic will have to do for me.

thanks, I knew they were pressed, I jsut wish we could replicate thsoe zones, oh well, Ive got a hard drvie lying aroung thats 20 gigs, maybe Ill get a hd prog, could I get a link, and no, I dont have any family from anywhere but florida
