Ok, I got a serial lead(Null Modem) 9 pin female to 9 pin female and a 9 pin UB serial converter. I connected them together grand a put them into the replaylite and laptop grand too.
I downloaded the stb link thing and opened it and it said connection unestablished. Now its just saying that it cannot recognise the USB device. That's all that I've doen so far, that I can think of.

First of all have you installed the driver for your USB converter. Next, have you configured your usb as a comm port. If not do the following (provided by Gman)
START
Right Click "MY COMPUTER"
Choose "MANAGE"
In the resulting window, click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
In the right hand pane, click on the little plus sign beside "PORTS" in the right hand pane.
Right click on the USB Adapter (Should be something like "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm. Port (COM#)
Choose "Properties"
Click on "PORT SETTINGS" TAB
Click on "ADVANCED"
Then you will see the COM Port Number Box. You should be able to change it there using the drop down box.
Try to set it to COM2
Restart Windows (Only if necessary)
Set STBLink to COM2 & try to connect.
If that fails try another port number.

In the stb link it has comm port 1 and 2 but no matter which one I put on it doesn't change. When I put the USB converter in it said something about comm port 5.

Right so, I did all that in your post but still no luck. It was set to comm 5 so I changed it to 1 then 2. Neither worked. It just says the system cannot find the file specified when I change the port in the stb link. It only shows 2 options in the stb link too.

Umm, there's no number on the Null Modem lead except the order code which is L71BT. On the USB Serial Converter it says its for USB to RS-232 serial interface.
