So I have a magic chip. And after I installed it, my ps2 booted up, but it wouldnt read backup ps2 discs. It read ps1 backups fine, but wouldnt do ps2 backups. So I went back in and checked my wire install, everything seemed fine. I even re-installed a few points to be sure. So I put it back together and it worked just the same as before, just fine, but wouldnt read ps2 backups. So I thought maybe I was burning it wrong. So instead of using DVD Decrypter, I used alcohol %120. I made a backup of one of my games, popped it in, and it asked me to set my language and clock, so I did, then it took me to the browser and wouldn't read my disc at all. Before when I put backups in, I got the red screen of death, but now I get nothing. Everytime I boot I have to set my language and my clock, and my ps2 wont read anything anymore. Is it possible I fried my laser? Or you think maybe just a bridged connection somewhere or what? Also.. just for a little background, the ps2 backups I was using worked fine on my friends modded ps2, and we both have the v12 slim, with a magic vkx+ chip in it. Anyone got any ideas on if I can fix this? and if so, what the problem is that its not reading ps2 backups. If you made it this far, I appreciate you reading through this, and I'm thankful for any help. So any ideas??

sounds like a bridged connection. I would take out the chip, clean your solder points, then make sure it works like normal with a oeiginal game.. then attempt to put the chip back in. with those tiny points it is easy to bridge a connection... good luck...
