Problems copying music (WMA's) to Archos AV480

I have owned my Archos AV480 for a few months and have been very happy with it so far, however,about 1 week ago, it started jamming frequently while going from menu to menu. I read the PDF user manual and tried to follow the instructions by doing a disc scan for errors, but I couldn't read the AV480 hard drive when it was connected to my laptop because it kept on freezing when I tried to look through the folders. As I was unable to do the disc scan, I had to re-format the drive. I then, upgraded the operating system to the latest version and copied across all the video footage and photo's with no problems. However when I tried to copy across the 23gb of music, the AV480 kept freezing after copying across about 15% of the albums. Since then, I have tried to connect it several times and transfer just one album at a time, however, the AV480 keeps freezing and will not complete the transfer. When it is NOT connected to my laptop, it is fine and I can access and play all music (the 15% which successfully transferred) + photo's & video with no problems. The problems only occur when it is connected to my laptop and I am trying to transfer music. I keep my laptop very secure and I am 100% positive that there are no viruses or other problems with my laptop which are causing this as I have all of the latest virus protection software + I also use other external drives which are working fine.

I would appreciate it if any of you could provide any advice to help me resolve these issues.
