I recently got a Toshiba set-top DVD recorder. It works fine with Verbatim DVD-R media, but I've tried three brands of RW's and it keeps giving me error messages that the DVD is write-protected. It tells me to "un-protect the disk and try again".

I have no idea how this might be done, and I suspect it just means that the particular brand of media is not acceptable to the Toshiba. So far, I've tried a no-name, a Sony and a Ritek.

Can anybody suggest a solution to this problem?

It could be your player just doesn't like RW's. My XBox doesn't like RW's :)
