Hey, Im new to ripping and burning dvds, and i need some help.
I leaglly own a DVD I wanna rip and burn so i can have a backup copy of it.
I want some programs tat can rip from the DVD and then burn it to a DVD+R/RW (Like alcohol 120%), if the program can only rip it and have an image mounted on ur HD, it might be okay, but then ill need a program to burn it too.
Ive heard of some DVD burning programs, like Alcohol 120%. I DLed the free trial version, and tried to rip the DVD, but i got a copy protection error, it may just be the trial verson......so the retail version maybe able to do it...............
Another program i heard of and DLed was, Daemon Tools, but it has no GUI and seems a lil hard to use for a beginner to use, like me, so i didnt try to make a copy using it.
I also heard of Nero 6 and my comp came with it but i never used it, any1 knows what this program do? i think it rips from the DVD and can burn it to a DVD+R/RW too, but im not sure.
I have also heard of DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter, but im not sure what they do, but i think one rips from the DVD and the other shrinks the DVD to a smaller size so it can be burned, but then ill need a burning program.....
So if any1 knows any other good DVD Ripping/Burning Combo programs(Which i prefer) (Like Alcohol 120%, where its a ripping and burning combo, and also can copy dvds "on the fly") or sepreate ripping, "shrinking" and burning progs, then I would REALLY appreciate it.
TY in advance

i saw this the other day and i'm pretty sure scubapete was the author.
Enjoy!!!!!
For rippers we have:
DVD Shrink (FREE)
DVDD (FREE)
AnyDVD ($$$$)
For processing we have:
DVD Shrink (FREE)
Nero's Recode2 ($$$$)
For burning proggys we have:
DVDD (FREE)
AnyDVD ($$$$)
Nero ($$$$)
Seeing it this way, all you need to backup a DVD is:
DVD Shrink (FREE) to rip
DVDD (FREE) to rip on those rare occasions when DVD Shrink has trouble.
To encode, edit (if desired) and compress (when needed):
DVD Shrink (FREE)
To burn to disc:
DVDD (FREE)

@Jerry_03
just my opion here, there are many out there.
what i would do as a newbie is first off, i would
try out the free proggys such as DVDShrink and DVDDecypter, once you get the hang of it it's cool.
they are simple to use and "FREE" as well and do
a very good job. they will also work side by side
together if you set them up. i wouldn't run out
and spend money for proggy's you don't need anyway.
the DVDShrink program will let you shrink the contents
on the original disks, and get rid of all the use less
stuff you don't need.
then DVDDecypter will burn it for you. both proggys
will work together if you set them up to do so.
the only proggy i have spent money on is ANYDVD
beause it is a great proggy and works well together
with DVDShrink and DVDDecypter, but isn't a must.
....it will auto remove all protection soon as you
put the factory DVDDisk in your computer, and is
the most/quickest updated proggy out there at
present time well worth the $39.00 price tag.
don't know about you but myself i like to keep the
"MOVIE ONLY" part beause i'm not interested in all
the extra's and all any way................
some people are, but to me i don't like to sit and
wait to go through all of that anyway.....and the
back up is great also..
and don't go putting a bunch of proggy's on your
cpu beause they may have conflict's, i think that
is a lot of people's problem's on these forum's
anyway.
if you want to keep movie only, what you do is
use DVDShrink and keep "MOVIE ONLY", then burn
with DVDDecypter to your blank...in that order.
as far as media you can buy a couple of DVD-RW's
to start with so you can erase them, until you get
the hang of it then burn-baby-burn..........
i myself use RITEK G04's or G05's, they are about
$36.00---$40.00 per 100, with shipping included
at www.allmediaoutlet.com
there are also a lot of guides on this forum, such
as "ScubaPete's" and many other's................
pm me if you want......
good luck to ya
FREEDOM2..................................

Its pretty easy. What I would do is just get DVDShrink(can basically do it all for you)and DVD Decrypter.
With DVD Shrink you can cut out the useless stuff(like subtitles and extra audio)and then make an ISO. You can then burn with DVD Decrypter or Nero using a DVD-/+R disc. I myself use DVD Shrink and CloneDVD and thats it.

Well, I was origianlly having problems with the aspi error for the decryptor and was getting several suggestions to fix it. None of them worked so I used the DVD Shrink and then to burn I used the program that was already on my computer to burn them. And it worked!! It is called CopyToDVD. But anyways, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who was trying to help me and good luck.
