I have never played a cd ps2 game before since most of the good ones are on DVD. I recently backup a copy of Lego Star Wars and when i play it with my ps2, it makes a really loud noise like the disk is spinning really fast. Are cd games suppose to be like that? If not, does that mean it's hurting my ps2 laser? The game was burnt on nero with a 4x speed.
thanks

Nah m8 PS2's do that all by them selfs, What brand of media are you using? I would try to burn this game at a lower speed if you can if not try a diffrent brand of media.

best bet with that one (i havent tried it) but THE best idea would be to back it up with like hdloader or hdadvance..something like that so it loads directly from a harddrive as opposed to the disc...cuz from what it sounds like, it may be putting a little extra wear and tear on your laser. If the hdadvance/hdloader isnt available to you, best to just try a differant brand of media......dont use the really lousy types such as imation, cuz thats where you start running into problems like that...that and the fact that once they get one little scratch they dont work anymore.

if anyone is interested
i solved the problem, at least for my ps2.
I heard that ps2 reads DVDs and CDs differently, it tends to read the CDs faster. Then someone told me about the scotch tape trick. The trick is to put scotch tape (or any see through thin tape) on the label side ( the side you can write on) of the CD as close to the middle hole as you can. That way the PS2 thinks the CD is a DVD (dont ask me why, maybe cos it's thicker?)
So i put 2 one inche scotch tape across from each other, and another 2 one inch on the next to it so that all 4 scotch tapes are equal distance from each other symmetrically. Its hard to explain.
But hope this helps.
