I am right now in the process of purchasing a new dvd burner in order to back up some movies and mainly my PS2 games. I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a cheap external burner that would work nicely for this. I have a laptop and would just like to hook something up so I can burn this disks.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Here are some I was looking at.
Nero6, nec, pioneer. priced from 70-90 dollars.
Will these be ok?

OK in my opinion here are the best external burners. Just to let you know I sell and work on PC's for a living..
1. Memorex
2. BenQ 1621
3. I/O Majic

Yes even though the Memorex media suxs! there burner is top of the line. Stay away from Sony's external to many issues. Those three seem to work the easiest for people with no issues, and very easy to set up :-)

The Pioneer is a good option because it comes in a case that can basically be used again with any other internal burner. So when it would come time to upgrade to a newer burner the cost wouldn't be as high because you could just buy an internal DVD writer and replace the pioneer with a new one. Again though the three I listed earlier seem to work the best with most systems.
