My ps2 is PAL. Can i play games on NTSC/PAL TV perfectly without slightly squashed image with borders at the top and bottom, less smooth picture?

Swap Magic 3.3 does a pretty good job, you just change the screen mode settings and it should play fine. there is usually just a very small amount at the bottom that is cut off. A mod chip on the other hand should play them iwth no problem. You may want to invest in a converter and that should solve the problem completely.
