I just rented the movie "Spanglish" and while trying to rip a copy - an error came up saying "Failed to read file E: - Cyclic Redundancy Check". I saw a thread saying maybe there is a scratch, but this is a brand new movie that just came out today.. so it's brand new.
It'll start to read the DVD and then it'll analyze it to 37% - right to where the actual movie will begin and then the error comes up.
Just wondering what the problem could be? Is there a new protection on this DVD that my DVD SHRINK 3.2 isn't getting through? Please help! Thanks :)

To: lagirl --->I will answer your question.Have you updated the "newest version of DVD Decrypter or AnyDVD?If not, then you need to.You can update either one.Remember AnyDVD is $39.00 and DVD Decrypter is is FREE.I have both softwares and let me tell you I burned Spanglish with AnyDVD along with clonedvd2 this is what I got. Summary for drive F:
Drive (Hardware) Region: 1

Media is a Data DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)

Video DVD (or CD) label: DVD_VIDEO
Media is CSS protected!
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1!

RCE protection not found.
Found & removed wrong DVD structure!
Found & removed structural copy protection (Arccos, Puppetlock)!
Found & removed Autorun from Video DVD!
Found & removed 5 bad sector protections!
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!
**Notice this movie has 5 bad sectors when other sony movies had 2 or 3 bad sectors. Also,it has the Arccos puppetlock as well.sencondly,I just burned the (main movie) not the the full movie with the menus. There is another way of burning the full movie.Simply use AnyDVD version 4.6.3.1 and once it decrypts the movie burn with dvd x copy and check the box (entire movie).Lastly if you don't have AnyDVD or dvd x copy platinum. You can burn the full movie with the newest version of DVD Decrypter ---> Current version: 3.5.4.0
Released: 21st March 2005 <-----.I hope I was helpful with my answers.thanks so much,mobfather
by the way, what part in L.A. are you in?

@lagirl

Check out the threads in the two Fori -Advanced and Newbies. Spanglish has been discussed almost to death.

AnyDVD, CloneDVD 2, good copy, no problems.

It says I can't download the DVD Decrypter because I'm in the United States. How were you able to do it? I'm in Northern Louisiana.. by Shreveport. :)

I'm not going to burn a copy. This is my first time trying and it's not working and I feel guilty about doing it in the first place. I'd rather be safe than sorry!

there are ways to go around this question--->Do you live in United States, Germany or in any other country that has laws against distributing DeCSS or similiar tools?

SAY NO!

don't feel guilty!

Ok - this will make everyone happy! I GOT IT!! :) Clone2 and AnyDVD did not work for me. But I finally said "NO" to Decrypter and burned it with Nero and it worked perfectly. :) Thanks for everyone's help - you rock!

Congrats on success.

One of the things I've found about AnyDVD is that I have to make sure it has finished it's analysis and work and has given me a report prior to starting to copy. If I rush it of course it doesn't work.
