CD ROMS only read CD's.
You would be better with a DVD ROM plus a DVD Burner, then you have the best of both worlds.

I agree You can put the original in dvd rom and blank in dvd burner. And not have to switch anything Just press a few buttons and away you go

@DaliR

yes their right.............

there are many advantages to having both, if you use DVDShrink and then DVDDecypter, you can set them up to work together as one..
then you can put the original in the DVD-ROM, and the blank in
the DVD-Burner and walk away.....and the DVDDecypter will fart
with a sound to tell you it's done, while your in the other room.

also having both DVD-ROM, and DVD-Burner, the DVD-ROM, reads
very fast and takes wear/tear of your DVD-Burner, and your CPU.

you can probably save a little money, if you buy a new cpu with
the basic's and then go out and buy the dvd-rom, and the dvd-burner
your self, and install. most Dvd-burners are dual-layer, and all
for the future........

my self i use a LITE-ON DVD-ROM $25.00 over the net $35.00 wal-mart
and a HP630I burner now $59.00 at wal-mart was $99.00....

hope we could help.....
good day to all.......

Just curious how I would make Shrink and Decrypter work together as one? Would I use Shrink to compress the file first, then use Decrypter to burn and get rid of decryption? I'm new to all this and would like a little help. thanks guys.

Shrink is also a decrypter and can handle the older movies before Nov. 2004. It can't handle the new encryptions now being used on some of the movies. Thats where DVD Decrypter come into play. It has been updated to do the new encryptions but you have to work somewhat different. You use Decrypter to rip the movie to your HD then open the files with Shrink after to edit and compress the movie to fit the dvd5 blank media. Then use either Nero or decrypter as the burn engine for the final burn. In Shrink's setting you can pick which program you want to burn with automatically.
