What App Can I Use To Join 2 or more video files together without a pause between the 2 files?

I've inputed the files thru Nero Vision Express, the output is fine. However the point between File a & file b, there is a small pause or freeze of about 2 seconds and then it picks up & proceeds with the rest of file b. I've used NVE & ran it thru Dvdsanta. Is there some hidden settings in either app that I've missed? Or do I have to run the files thru something else to get a seamless merging of 2 or more files, and then burn that output to dvd format?

First of all, it depends which kind of files they are.
Usually AVI are joined by VirtualDub and mpegs by TMPGEnc 2.5 (for only VCD/MPEG-1) or TMPGEnc 2.5 Plus (for MPEG-1 and MPEG-2).
