there r alot of variables that could cause this.
Questions to answer.
Does this occur with ALL dvd's?
Have u got the latest versions?
Have u enough HD space?
R all the dvd's ORIGINALS?
R u saving them all to the same locations?
How old is your dvd rom ?(may have weakened laser).
What OS r u using?
Have u reasonale amount of ram?
There r so many variables

I would say your specs r ok.
OS is operating system(windows xp/me/98 etc)
I would probably say it is the source(dvd disc).
What dvd is it?
Can u try in someone elses machine?
What settings have you used in:
dvd decryptor
smartripper.

This may be long winded but it may work.
Never done this but worth a go i think.
Use dvd decryptor.
selcet file mode and see if you can rip 2 or 3 files ONLY at a time and keep doing that.
It will either work or fall over at the possible bad area.
Also I have noticed that if you rip separate streams then the rip speed is quicker than if you do the whole disc at once.
It could be that you dvd rom is running too slow for the file size.(remote possibility)

seems strange this one.
Have you got powerdvd?
If u have then try this.
open powerdvd and play the dvd for a few secs.
then close down powerdvd and open dvd decryptor and try again.

I have not come across actual fault codes before. so this stumps me abit.
But logically looking at the code info it seems there was a sector area that it could not decrypt/rip.
I would probably say that that it may be a small bug with the compatibility of your dvd rom, but I am not sure.
I have to go now but I shall have look into that code and meaning and see if we can get down to the definitive problem.
Probably be tomorrow though sorry.

Hello again.
I have searched alot of forums and posted.
Including at the actual (software u r using) forum.
AND unfortunately the answer is not necessarily a good one I`m afraid.
The fault code apparently cannot happen with dvd's.
The statement was 'thats impossible'
It is basically saying that it does not think that the media it is reading is a 'dvd' at that point of the rip.
UNREAL eh!
Suggestions were that there maybe dirt on the disc or laser optical pickup within the dvd rom.
However the 'dirty' disc is not true as u swapped it to ur laptop.
I have only a couple of suggestions left. so see how u go on.
1. what version is in ur laptop if it is different can u transfer it and remove ur other version?
2. try ripping some other dvd's to see if the problem is re-occuring with them(this would possiblt indicate dirt inside).
3. download a fresh version and see if this cures it.
4. play(watch) the dvd to see if it all works ok in a home layer etc.
I am trying to think up more possibilities and will post if any new come up.
Hope u get a result.
Speak to u soon.

i will get into downloading a new version ASAP. Guess what? When i saw The DVD in my house there is a part where it is really MESSED up. I think that could be the problem. But the question i am asking myself is "how come it worked on my laptop?" i will transfer the version of smartripper that i have on my laptop and see what happeneds. Also i have ripped another DVD since. so i dont think my laser is dirty. Thanxs very much for all your help. :)

Have you looked at the dvd itself? Is it dirty or scratched? As for why it worked on your laptop but not anywhere else, it could be the dvd drive in your laptop reads at a different speed than your pc or the software is more forgiving of errors.

Twilite has a point there, did not think of that one.
However if u could get another copy of that particular dvd u would be able to prove whether it was the disc or not.
I suppose it would still pose the question 'why it worked in the laptop which may link into what Twilite suggested.
I hope u crack it, let me know ur results.

WEll people now i know the problem. The problem is that The DVD is dirty.
I was trying to rip another DVD. This DVD was double sided. One Side was Widescreen, and the other side was Fullscreen. I tried ripping the widescreen. Then i got the same error that i got before on Collateral Damage. So then i tried to rip the Fullscreen. And that side worked. Then i looked at the widescreen side, and i noticed some really bad scratches. Similar to the ones on Collateral Damage. So the problem was that the DVD had some bad scratches on it. So I solved My problem!!!! Thanxs Very much people for your help. :)
